"Fast Fashion's Resale Programs: A Tiny Step, Not a Giant Leap for Sustainability, Study Shows"

Fast fashion’s recent move towards resale programs may have minimal impact on reducing emissions, as per a new study. This re-commerce practice lets customers sell their used clothes back to the retailer. The retailer then refurbishes and resells these items.

However, the study reveals that the environmental benefits of resale are small. Even if emissions could be cut by 3% to 4%, this does not offset the huge environmental footprint of the fast fashion industry.

So while resale in fast fashion may be lauded as a step in the right direction, it falls short of implementing the significant ecological change truly needed. Resale alone can’t solve the industry’s sustainability problems.
