Swiss Tech Firm Climeworks Set for 2023 Launch of CO2 Extraction Project in Kenya

Climeworks, a Swiss technology firm, aims to introduce a project in Kenya to extract carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The project aims to be operational by 2023.

The initiative in Kenya involves manufacturing a facility to remove 50,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. This move aligns with the firm’s goal to eliminate 1% of global CO2 emissions by 2025.

Climeworks has secured funding for the project. The cost and funding source, however, are unknown. The firm plans to sell emissions to entities aiming to offset their carbon footprints.
