A breakthrough in cement production technology may significantly reduce the industry’s hefty carbon footprint. Called Sublime, the revolutionary cement replaces the heating process with an electrolysis method, effectively achieving “true zero carbon”.
The process uses renewable energy, and crucially, doesn’t emit CO2. Traditional cement production accounts for around 8% of global CO2 emissions due to the energy-intensive heating process currently used.
