The International Energy Agency (IEA) has dispelled ten myths about energy transition. The top myth is the belief that renewables can’t power the world. IEA says renewables powered 27% of global power in 2020.
Another myth is that electric vehicles (EVs) lead to more emissions than conventional vehicles. However, IEA proves that the lifetime emissions of EVs are lower. Additionally, the myth that energy transition is costly is also debunked.
The final myth busted by IEA is that energy transition increases global inequality. They argue the opposite, stating that energy transition provides new economic opportunities, hence reducing inequality.
