US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry has stated that nuclear power is essential for achieving net zero emissions. He made this declaration during a meeting with International Energy Agency (IEA) members.
Citing the IEA’s recent report, Kerry highlighted that renewables solely can’t meet the Paris Agreement’s targets. The clean energy transition must include nuclear power.
He emphasized addressing safety and waste issues within nuclear tech to ensure its broader acceptance. The envoy stressed on the need of modernizing nuclear facilities and exploring new reactor technologies. He urged for global cooperation to tackle climate change.
