Amazon has made its first investment in direct air capture technology. It has invested in Carbon Clean Solutions to help deal with climate change. This is part of Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund.
Direct air capture is designed to capture CO2 directly from the atmosphere. The technology can then store the captured carbon or use it to create other products. Amazon and Carbon Clean did not disclose the amount invested.
Carbon Clean looks forward to accelerating its expansion thanks to the investment. Amazon hopes for a future where companies would remove more CO2 than they emit.
The investment aligns with Amazon’s commitment to be net carbon zero by 2040.
